Trump DOJ Dismisses Case Against Nebraska Congressman Jeff Fortenberry
Lincoln, Nebraska – Jan 29, 2025 –
Congressman Jeff Fortenberry expressed his heartfelt gratitude today to President Donald J. Trump and his administration for bringing closure to a grave miscarriage of justice. The case was "Dismissed with Prejudice." With this dismissal, Congressman Fortenberry's good name has been restored, ending a years-long legal ordeal that was a weaponization of the justice system.
“President Trump knows better than anyone what false accusations and political persecution mean,” Congressman Fortenberry said. “The American people gave President Trump a mandate to end witch hunts like these and restore confidence in our justice system. He has kept his promises to America, in the very first days of his presidency, and we are so grateful.
“I want to thank all who loved and supported my family and me through this ordeal,” continued Congressmen Fortenberry, “and with profound gratitude, I thank President Trump and his team for ending the weaponization of government against the American people.”
At great financial and personal cost to the Congressman and his family, the government hauled him across the country to face trial in California—a conviction that was overturned on appeal. Despite this, the Biden DOJ schemed to retry Congressman Fortenberry in Washington, D.C., in a relentless effort to destroy an honorable member of Congress.
“Again, I am deeply grateful to President Trump for standing up against this injustice. And I am thankful to my friends and colleagues who supported me when the full weight, authority, and unlimited resources of the government were turned against us.”
Congressman Fortenberry served nine terms in Congress with a distinguished record in foreign policy, food policy, and health care policy.

About Jeff

Jeff Fortenberry served for nine terms in the United States House of Representatives. He rose to a senior level on the powerful House Appropriations Committee where he distinguished himself as an effective legislator in foreign policy, food policy, and healthcare policy. Jeff began public service with an extensive background in economics and small business. A former publishing business executive and Lincoln, Nebraska City Council Member, Jeff has a bachelor’s degree in economics and two master’s degrees, one in public policy. Jeff and his wife Celeste live in Lincoln, where they raised five daughters.
As a public official, Jeff always prioritized economic security, national security, and family security. Jeff frequently stated that the strength of our nation depends on the strength of our families and communities—and he often reminded his colleagues from across the country, "Let's just get things done!"
The citizens of Nebraska re-elected Jeff by significant margins each term.
In a traumatic turn of events, Jeff Fortenberry was targeted by the FBI and Department of Justice for allegedly scheming to lie about a campaign contribution and hauled to Los Angeles to stand trial.
Jeff fought back. After losing the initial trial, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals overturned the conviction, declaring it "unconstitutional." However, in a malicious act of vengeance, the Los Angeles prosecutors tried to bring the case again in Washington, DC. New leadership under President Trump reviewed the case and it was "Dismissed with Prejudice." President Trump called the charges "totally baseless" and Jeff a "highly respected American public servant."
Please feel free to review the case. If your heart is so moved, we respectfully ask that you help us with the massive legal costs. Thank you so much!
